Project Name: 2009/10 National Airfields Maintenance Project – Taxiway H Reconstruction

 

Location: RAAF Base Amberley & Townsville

 

Client: Department Of Defence / Downer EDI Works

 

As part of the overall maintenance program, Civilcraft were awarded the slab replacements and stormwater rectification at RAAF Base Amberley in Ipswich and RAAF Base Townsville which consisted of the following elements. The program required complex staging and planning to adhere to the strict time frames and operational requirements of a live airfield.

 

    - Service identification and relocation

    - Detailed demolition and removal of concrete slabs on existing live taxiways and runways

    - Compaction and proof-rolling of subgrade

    - Construction of lean-mix subbase layer

    - Construction of new heavy-duty 4.8MPa flexural strength concrete

    - Reconstruction of existing stormwater drainage infrastructure
