Project Name: Bradfield Tunnel – Removal of Asbestos Trays, Rocks and Dumped Construction Waste

Location: Sydney, NSW

Client: Roads and Maritime Services

The purpose of this project was to remove asbestos trays, rocks and dumped construction wastes from the Bradfield Tunnel in order to provide a safe working area for the future maintenance of steel beams. The area required to be cleared extended 1.5m horizontally and 1.2m vertically from each beam. A total of 130 tonnes of waste was removed. As the access was restricted, Civilcraft designed and installed a conveyor system to transport the waste to a covered skip bin by a chute.

    - Development and implementation of Project Quality Plan, Occupational Health and Safety Management

Plan, Environmental Management Plan, Traffic Management Plan and Record Management Plan

    - The excavation and removal of approximately 130 tonnes of rubble and construction waste near the steel    beams

    - The safe removal and disposal of the asbestos cable trays (approximate length of 55m) in accordance   with “WorkCover Working with Asbestos 2008” Guidelines

    - Installation of kickboards next to the hand rails prior to disturbance to avoid any stones or rocks from   rolling over to the adjacent roof and structures
