The Civilcraft Team at DP World had an interactive Toolbox this week with an emphasis on Blind Spots for plant and machinery. The younger team members had the opportunity to jump into a parked excavator to learn about the visual hazards associated with working around the plant. It was a great interactive session where everyone could sit in the plant and have someone walk around the excavator and realise the many blind spots and hazards when working in the vicinity of excavators. This session helped our team understand the importance of visual confirmation when approaching machinery.

Our Civilcraft maintenance division is busily preparing and embarking on our next round of annual hardstand maintenance works for Australia’s largest industrial property groups. We have been providing a range of ad hoc reactive and projects works to them for over 6 years and as many as 40 different sites throughout Greater Sydney each year. Predominately warehouse and logistics parks, many of the sites operate 24/7, so we’ve worked very closely with our client and their tenants to ensure that programmes of work are staged outside their peak operational periods. Some sites have proven more challenging than others, with additional processes and safety measures put in place for concrete repairs to sub zero controlled temperature food storage facilities and perishable storage sites. Throughout this contract the team has developed a new repair methodology and concrete repair reporting tool that is used across many of our maintenance contracts. The maintenance works include concrete and asphalt repairs, warehouse flooring, stormwater drainage reconstruction and linemarking. Congratulations to the Civilcraft maintenance division for your dedication to this contract.

We’ve just implemented a great new safety compliance tool – Plant Assessor – to help our teams across Civilcraft manage our plant and vehicles wherever they are. Plant Assessor allows our people on the ground to conduct Pre-starts from their phones or tablets that are electronically saved online and accessible by staff at any location. Our team receives real-time notifications about the state of our equipment, from when the next service is due to any faults found when on site. It will track Service history and provide Plant Risk Assessments for each unique piece of plant on site used by us. This will not only save time but also provide access to an array of information all available at the touch of our fingertips. We look forward to working with Plant Assessor as we streamline our process on the ground and make things safer, faster and more effective. A big thanks to our HSEQ Systems Manager Hisham Habib (md hisham H.) for rolling out and training the team in this great new system.

It’s #RUOKDay2022 and the message this year is: Ask R U OK? No qualifications needed. This year’s theme was a great reminder that it’s really OK for all of us to ask R U OK – not just today, but any day. At Civilcraft, every employee is part of our family, so we took the opportunity to get the team team to together and check in with our teammates, friends and family. The nature of our work means we can’t always be together in one place, but the wonders of technology meant that we could all take part via a live stream. This year’s theme will be one that we will continue throughout the year via our regular Toolbox Talks so that we can continue to create and build a culture of mental health safety. A big thanks to everyone who organised and participated in the event. Pictured in the office are Vicky Mahoney, Leon Skouras, Theo Falas, Nick Papadopoulos, Michael Kounnas, Hisham Habib, Mark Galanos, Peter Pladas and Ting Yu.

Civilcraft is always proud to announce that we are now formally prequalified by TfNSW for R2 F10 projects. This upgraded prequalification will open up new opportunities for the company and is a testament to the hard work and ongoing dedication by all of the Civilcraft team. This milestone comes not long after the 11 year anniversary of when Civilcraft received its first prequalification from TfNSW, which at the time was known as the RTA. We would like to thank the employees and all the contractors who have come with us on this journey to make this such a success and look forward to bright future ahead.

Did you know that there are over 2000 aircraft landing sites across Australia? And that every runway has a pavement that is uniquely formulated to meet its environmental, traffic loads, and aircraft safety challenges? Every day Civilcraft’s teams are maintaining some of the busiest of these runways. Our membership with the Australian Airports Association helps us stay in touch with what’s happening in the industry, and to reinforce the importance of preventative maintenance for this vital infrastructure.
