RMS - Bradfield Tunnel Remediation Works
Location: Sydney, NSW
Client: Roads and Maritime Services
Description: The purpose of this project was to remove asbestos trays, rocks and dumped construction wastes from beneath the Bradfield Tunnel. By removing this waste, it would allow for steel beams to be exposed that would provide a safe working area for future maintenance of the beams.
As site access was restricted, Civilcraft developed a methodology to remove waste via a conveyor system. The conveyor would transport the material to a skip bin that would then be taken offsite.
Summary of works:
- Installation of kickboards to avoid any stones or rocks from rolling onto the Cahill Expressway roof structure situation below the work zone
- The excavation and removal of approximately 130 tonnes of rubble and construction waste from beneath the Bradfield Highway, adjacent to the steel beams
- The safe removal and disposal of the asbestos cable trays (approximate length of 55m) in accordance with “WorkCover Working with Asbestos 2008” Guidelines
