DP World - Grid 7 & 8 Upgrade Works

Location: DP World Terminal, Port Botany

Client: DP World Australia

Description: DP World engaged Civilcraft to undertake pavement upgrade works to an existing 14,000m2 pavement area within the operational area of their terminal known as Grid 7 & 8. The area is primarily used for container stacking using heavy duty forklifts together with road trucks and Internal Transfer Vehicles (ITV’s). The existing pavements were constructed during the original terminal development approximately 30 years ago and had reached the end of their serviceable life. The pavements were showing considerable signs of failure including heavy rutting of the asphalt surface.

The project interfaced with terminal operations on three sides which required a high level of coordination with DP World operators and personnel in order to minimise disruption to the terminal operations.

Summary of works:

  • Site preparation including locating and isolating existing services
  • Installation of approved environmental pollution control measures
  • Construction of temporary site security fencing to isolate the works from the terminal operations
  • Protection of existing services including existing stormwater pits, concrete drainage lines, electrical, fire hydrant, sewer and water services within the works area
  • Bulk earthworks and subgrade preparation
  • Construction of approximately 8,732m2 of heavy-duty pavement
  • Asphalt re-sheet of approximately 4,408m2 of existing pavement
  • Linemarking works
