PORTS

Port Authority of NSW - Stormwater Upgrade Works

Location: White Bay Cruise Terminal

Client: Port Authority of NSW

Description: Civilcraft was engaged by the Port Authority of NSW to construct new stormwater infrastructure at the White Bay Cruise Terminal, Rozelle. Due to the severe settlement of the existing concrete pavement, large depressions had formed which subsequently caused ponding and significant operational safety risks. Civilcraft collaborated with PANSW & design consultant GHD in establishing a retro fit design for three in-situ stormwater pits over live 900mm dia concrete pipes. The constraints of the work involved maintaining cruise ship operational deadlines, flow of stormwater during inclement weather and daily tidal flow issues. The dewatering system that was designed and installed required stringent environmental management of ground water which included collection, testing and treatment prior to discharge back into the network.

Summary of works:

  • Sawcutting and demolition of concrete pavement
  • Demolition, detailed excavation and removal of all spoil
  • Design and installation of shoring system to cater for staging and retro fit pit construction
  • Design and implementation of dewatering system
  • Monitoring and treatment of ground water
  • Supply and installation of pit grates, trench grates and step irons
  • Restoration of the wharf surfaces across all pits and grated drains
