					<description><![CDATA[<p>Civilcraft was engaged by Qantas Airways Limited to deliver the staged upgrade of the DNATA carpark located at Kent Road, Mascot. The project aimed to rejuvenate the existing asphalt pavement, improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety, and enhance the overall functionality of the DNATA carpark servicing Qantas catering operations. The works were undertaken in six stages to ensure uninterrupted access and continuity of operations for Qantas and DNATA staff. Stages 1 and 2 formed the initial phase, focusing on the most critical and high-traffic sections of the facility. These stages involved resurfacing, repainting, and the installation of new safety features in accordance with Qantas property standards and airport operational requirements. Stages 3 to 6 was the construction of a new road as the previous access to the upper campus would no longer be accessible and a new entry via Kent Road was built as part of this upgrade. The project was successfully completed under Civilcraft’s Integrated Management System (IMS), achieving all safety, quality, and environmental objectives without any incidents. <p>This work included the following:</p>

<li>Milling and re-sheeting of the existing asphaltic concrete pavement with AC10 Wearing Course.</li>
<li>Design and construction of new road pavement, kerbs, footpaths and retaining wall.</li>
<li>New drainage lines, pits and upgrades to the existing GPT units.</li>
<li>Repainting of block walls and concrete columns for improved visibility and presentation.</li>
<li>Reinstatement of line marking and numbering throughout each completed zone.</li>
<li>Installation of new bollards, wheel stops, and speed humps for traffic safety.</li>
<li>Instalation of new boom and access control systems inclusive of CCTV Cameras.</li>
<li>Installation of streetscape furniture and custom built bus encolosed bus shelters.</li>
<li>Environmental controls, dust suppression, and disposal of milled material to licensed facilities.</li>
</ul>
<p>Despite the challenges of delivering works within an operational airport environment, Civilcraft successfully managed risks and constraints through careful staging, close coordination with Qantas, and strong adherence to WHS and quality protocols.</p>
<p>Civilcraft successfully navigated several key challenges and risks:</p>
<ul>
<li>Managing night works to comply with lighting, noise, and access restrictions.</li>
<li>Maintaining continuous vehicle and pedestrian access for Qantas Buses on the main alignment and DNATA operations.</li>
<li>Coordinating with multiple stakeholders including Qantas Property, DNATA, and airport security.</li>
<li>Implementing strict WHS and fatigue management systems under the Qantas Site Management Plan.</li>
<li>Achieving zero lost-time incidents across all stages of delivery.</li>

The relocation works required the installation of a fuel spill drainage system for aircraft refuelling services. This project required coordination with Qantas and Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) to ensure the existing operations at Terminal 3 and the Qantas Jet Base remained unaffected. Summary of works: Demolition of existing heavy-duty pavement. Earthworks to subgrade level and disposal of spoil classified as excavated natural material (ENM). Design, supply and installation of sacrificial sheet piles with horizontal bracing. Installation of a dewatering system which included with six inch pumps, well points, sedimentation tank for pits and stormwater pipes. Install stormwater infrastructure including stormwater pipes, cast in situ pits and ACO Powerdrain S300K grated drain. Construction of floodlight footings and associated duct bank infrastructure. Construction of heavy-duty pavement consisting of a lean mix concrete subbase layer and a PCC flexural concrete layer. Joint sealing works.</p>
