Overview
Civilcraft was engaged by BGIS to deliver stabilisation works along the Percival Street boundary at RAAF Base Richmond, where embankment movement and erosion posed risks to the Defence perimeter, public roadway and critical services. Working within a highly constrained corridor beside a live road and an active Defence boundary, Civilcraft constructed a multi-tier gabion retaining system, reprofiled the embankment and reinstated secure fencing while maintaining traffic flow and protecting a fibre-optic communications asset. Through precise staging, technical expertise and close coordination with Defence stakeholders, the project delivered a durable long-term revetment solution that restored embankment stability and strengthened the resilience of the base’s boundary infrastructure.

Summary of Works

Implementation of a temporary traffic diversion and controlled access zone to safely maintain public road operations adjacent to the Defence boundary.
Bulk excavation and embankment reprofiling to stabilise the slope and prepare a suitable foundation platform.
Construction of a multi-tier polymac-coated gabion retaining wall system in accordance with Transport for NSW and ACOR engineering specifications.
Coordination and protection of a live AARNET fibre-optic service, integrating third-party requirements into excavation and construction staging.
Final hydroseeding, asphalt reinstatement and line marking to return the roadway to its original alignment.
