Centennial Parklands – Duck Pond Retaining Wall Remediation Works

Civilcraft was engaged by Centennial Parklands and Moore Park Trust to undertake the rectification of the existing sandstone retaining wall structure. Heavy erosion of the pond bed had caused the sandstone blocks on the pond embankment to fail, stressing the necessity for a total rebuild and remediation to eliminate the complete failure of the retaining wall and adjacent pavement.

Summary of Works:

  • Design and construct cofferdam and carry out dewatering.
  • Remove and stack existing sandstone pavers and block wall for restoration at a later stage.
  • Cutting of batters.
  • Install reinforcement, weep holes and pour blinding.
  • Prepare all subgrade and new footing works beneath the line of sandstone block wall.
  • Form and pour new footing on gravel bed.
  • Rebuild sandstone wall.
  • Place and compact free draining fill behind new sandstone block wall.
